Calvin and Hobbes was excellent! Like you, I miss that strip. However, I thought it was a bit myopic for Suellentrop to assert that Watterson will likely be the last master of the modern newspaper comic strip. Do you suppose there was someone in 1745 who thought that surely no one would ever write as beautiful music as GF Handel? Probably- until Haydn or Mozart (or whoever) came along.
