Indiana Brian

I didn’t sleep well last night. The wind was blowing, my wife was wandering around the room and my muscles were sore from my first road run in a long time. The one thing I did last night well was dream, long detailed crazy dreams.

The dream I remember most clearly was one of complete fantasy and fiction. There was a team of us SCUBA diving in a cavern. Our first discovery was a highly detailed stairwell chiseled into the stone of the cavern floor. My first thought was that the water wasn’t always there if there were stairs. Duh. We followed the stairs down to the bottom which ended at a small opening that was barely big enough for someone to fit through. The team leader (I assume this since he went first) squeezed through the opening and I followed. My mind was racing with the fear of getting trapped in the opening and drowning. I passed through without much effort and ended up on an ornate room filled with wonders.

The whole team came through the opening into the room and we stood in awe of what we saw. I say we were standing because there was no longer water. I don’t know where it went, it was just one of those dream changes that isn’t explainable. The four of us began to look around at the objects in the room. They all appeared to be really old artifacts from either Mayan or Egyptian history. The room was huge. Most of the objects in the room were made of stone with ornate metal decorations. I distinctly remember one blue vase of about 4’ in height that had a silver décor. I remember thinking that if I could I would take this with me. The majority of the dream took place in this room.

There was one large stone block that must have been over 20’ tall that kept moving. It was at the end of the room and was the centerpiece of all the objects in the room. We speculated that the water, which was not longer there, was making it move. Only in a dream, right?

We removed covers of the sarcophagus’ to reveal shriveled up bodies or piles of dust. What I remember about these tombs was that they were all small. The covers on them had dark metal decoration and weren’t as ornate as some of the other objects like the blue jar.

Then we were running. We were setting off traps that shot metal arrows through the room. Our leader had a crossbow and was firing at targets that released a barrage of these arrows as we ran through a long corridor. This was very Indiana Jones like. I don’t think anyone was ever hit by the arrows.

Dream ends.

I can’t explain it, I just dream it. What took place felt like hours, in reality it probably took seconds.

The only thing I can think of in regards to the meaning of the dream is that it was God confirming my adventure.

The Bag Man Cometh

Last night I had a dream that I was a bag man for a drug runner. It was one of those highly detailed dreams that seem to last a long time.

The dream started with me and my partner pulling two bags out of the trunk of our car. We had a backpack and a rolling carry on. With the bags unloaded we headed into the hotel. We bypassed the check in clerk and headed straight to the room. Inside the room we were met by two others. My job was to empty out the contents of the bag and refill them once the exchange was done.

Much to my surprise, we were the buyers. I had to load the bags with pouches stuffed with drugs. In this case I think it was cocaine as it was solid white. Once the drugs were in the bag I then began covering the drugs with clothes and other items to help disguise them in the case of a search. In most dreams there are points of the dream the become weird and make little sense. This was the first part of the dream that had the weird moment. While I was putting the clothes in the bag I looked under the bed to find more and under the bed were a couple knit hats I knew my daughter had made. What those hats were doing in this hotel room I had no idea. I stuffed them in the bag and zipped them closed.

As I got the bags up on the bed ready to go there were only three of us in the room. Me, my partner, and one of the sellers who was now putting on gloves. After he got his black leather gloves on he pulled a gun and pointed it at my partners head and asked him a question. My partner shook his head and the gun swung towards me. The seller then asked me a question, of which I don't remember hearing. Taking the cue from my partner I also shook my head and the gun went back into his jacket and we were free to leave.

I had the bags walking through the lobby when a tour guide stopped me and said, "Brian, the police are at the car because somebody saw something in it." He warned me. I didn't know who he was, but he was in the know. At this point I was still calm. I knew they didn't know who to look for, just that something had gone down because somebody saw something in our trunk. What that something was I had no idea.

I calmly walked out of the hotel and was thinking I had to dump the red bag. I guess the red bag had the drugs. I stopped by some bushes and dropped down pretending to tie my shoes. My plan was to stash the bag. As I scanned the area I noticed that there were police all over looking through the bushes and garbage can for something. I guessed that they were looking for what I had. My plan had to be scrapped as they'd see me dumping the bag.

When I saw the car we arrived in it was surrounded by police cars and police personnel. I saw no sign of my partner. At this I decided to just walk on. With bags in tow I turned the corner and headed towards some fast food restaurants. I decided the best course of action would be to hide the red bag in the ceiling of one of the bathrooms. I had a choice between Wendy's and Burger King. This is the point which the dream faded.

Anyone want to analyze this one?

Dream World

A little bit ago I posted a dream I had that was very vivid and disturbing.  Thanks for the insight from those that posted responses.  Since then I have kept a journal of dreams that I remember in the morning.  When I wake up I take a shower then grab some coffee and sit with God for a bit and read his word.  Since God used dreams in the bible to speak to people I decided that I would add journaling my dreams to my time with Him in the morning.  I spend about 10 - 15 minutes writing our what I can remember from the nights journey into my subconscience depths.  I am amazed at what my head comes up with.

Last night I shared the previous nights dream with Kathi and it had her laughing hard.  No, I won't be putting that one out for anyone to read.  As funny as it may have been, what was funny is also a bit embarrassing.  Sorry.

As I write them out I am amazed at what wanders through my mind at night and the clarity of what the mind creates.  Lately I have noticed that my mind creates places I have never been to and things that don't exist.  It is facinating how the mind works.  I've heard the statistic that our mind only uses 10% of its capability.  I wonder if my dream world is using the other 90% while I am sleeping.

As time goes on I will contemplate sharing the dreams that leave me with questions.  Until then I will dream on.

Dream Interpreter Needed

All my life I have had vivid dreams.  Some are based on reality and some are just plain nuts.  For the longest time I've wanted to start a dream journal but by the time I sit down to write them out they've become fuzzy and not worth recording.  Last night I had some doozy's, one in particular was just plain nuts.  I am used to the dreams were I show up late for a test I am not prepared for or the one where I forget my locker combination or the one where I am riding a motorcycle but have to push it like Fred Flintstone.  Those are normal. This one is not.

Since I was up early, I got in a shower and some Bible reading and decided that the dream was still fresh enough to write down.  Since I have a good record of it and some courage to share I will do just that.  Here it is.  Let me know what you think of this and if you think you know what it means.

We walked with a purpose through a new park in Portland.  This was no ordinary park and this was no ordinary group of people.  I was last in line behind a number of homeless people marching through a concrete tunnel.  My thoughts were that this park would become a haven for the homeless due to the homeless guys sleeping under the cushions on couches that lined the concrete tunnel.  Eventually the tunnel leads outside where we trudged up a small incline to a path along a small field of grass.  Along this path there was a sewer grate that was about shoulder height to me and filled with mud and junk.  As I passed this grate I heard a voice, it was the voice of a child.  The voice said “My daddy hurt me”.  There was no mistake, I heard the voice loud and clear.  No one else in our troop seemed to have heard the voice.  I stopped and looked into the grate and saw nothing but the debris that filled it.  I called out to the voice but it did not respond.  I picked up a stick and reached through the bars and dug at the gunk inside.  A moment later the stick was lifting the arm of a small child, and then a face appeared.  It was a mud covered face of a little girl of undetermined age.  I dialed 911 on my cell phone.  The operator was discussing a recipe with a coworker as she answered my call.  I quickly told her that I found the body of a little girl at the park.  I had to look up the street to find the crossroads at which the park was located.  Burnside and 11-22nd.  The group I was with had changed and so had the little girl.  As I turned back to her after hanging up with the 911 operator I noticed that the group I was with included my wife, and the little girl was now alive and sitting on the side of the grating.  She began to speak with me.  I don’t remember what we talked about, I only remember noticing that she had tattoo’s on her left shoulder.  When I asked about the tattoos she told me that she was getting more and one of them would say “Daddy loved me”.  From there the dream gets a bit sketchy in terms of clarity.  At one point the paramedics arrive and examine the girl.  They asked me if I touched the body and I said only with the stick and I outlined one of the tattoos on her shoulder with my finger tip.  At this point I don’t remember if the girl was still in her alive state, which was clean, or her dead state, which she was covered with the mud.  The paramedics were hovered over her and the dream ends.
So that's it.  A bit of CSI slash X-Files.  Somehow my head produced that out of conscience and unconscience memories.  I am just curious if it has meaning.  I think most dreams do I just can't imagine what the meaning of this one is.
