Abortion Kills

I will admit up front that I have not had a passion for the issue of abortion. I don't know much about it and have never felt called to be an activist fighting against it. Well I came across an organization that is fighting the good fight against abortion. They are Abort73. Their website is fascinating, disturbing, informative and heart wrenching. I will do my part, although an eansy-weansy part, to spread the word and to pray.

Father, forgive us for not acting on behalf of the helpless. Forgive me for turning away and not paying attention to this slaughter. Forgive them as they know not what they do.

What about what this says about our culture? Where does this leave our mommies? Check it out: 82% of women who choose to get an abortion are unmarried, and a third of women getting abortions are college-aged. If our society was more supportive of women, if they felt they were able to finish school, support their families, raise kids alone, go home and tell their parents they were pregnant without getting in trouble, would they choose to carry out the pregnancy? If they knew the options available for them to let their child be adopted, or if they were better equipped to raise their child, would they choose to?

This is what I found on the website: On average, women give at least 3 reasons for choosing abortion: 3/4 say that having a baby would interfere with work, school or other responsibilities; about 2/3 say they cannot afford a child; and 1/2 say they do not want to be a single parent or are having problems with their husband or partner.

That is telling, to me. Women should have the freedom to raise their children well. We owe it to those kids. I don't think it is simply an issue of stopping the abortions. (I know that's not what you're saying, Brian!) I think being pro-life means changing the world be are bringing our kids into.

Ash, jump on the soap box anytime. I totally get what you are saying and that is why Kathi and I choose to support the efforts of The House of Ruth.

I watched the videos and read the website and was just heart broken by what I read. Murdering a child because it my interfer with your career. Pah-lease. This is why I am glad our church community is having the conversation it is. We worry about global warming and organic vs. non-organic food when there are women out there making life altering choices out of convenience. That is not acceptable.

Thank you Laurie. Thank you. I am honored that you shared with me.

There should be a warning on this site.

Warning: Viewing of videos by pregnant women will cause extreme emotional reactions.

I've seen footage like this before, but it has never hurt my heart more.
